Negative Sentences / μ•ˆ, -지 μ•Šλ‹€

Two main ways to create negative sentences in Korean:

  1. Add μ•ˆ before a verb(simple and colloquial)

  2. Use the negative verb ending, -지 μ•Šλ‹€ (more formal, a little more to change)

κ°€λ‹€ = to go

집애 κ°€μš” = I am going home.

집에 μ•ˆ κ°€μš” = I am NOT going home.

버리닀 = to throw away

κ·Έκ±° λ²„λ Έμ–΄μš” = I threw it away.

κ·Έκ±° μ•ˆλ²„λ Έμ–΄μš” = I did NOT throw it away.

-지 μ•Šλ‹€ = basic form

-지 μ•Šμ•„μš” = Present tense

-지 μ•Šμ•˜μ–΄μš” = Past tense

κ°€λ‹€ = to go

가지 μ•Šλ‹€ = to NOT go

가지 μ•Šμ•„μš” = I DO NOT go.

가지 μ•Šμ•˜μ–΄μš” = I DID NOT go.

버리닀 = to throw away

버리지 μ•Šλ‹€ = to not throw away

버리지 μ•Šμ•„μš” = I DO NOT throw it away

버리지 μ•Šμ•˜μ–΄μš” = I DID NOT throw it away
